Bahrain. The country has a single export refinery- the 267,000 b/d facility at Sitra. Roughly 17% of the refinery's crude oil originates from the Bahrain Field, while the bulk of crude oil feedstock is imported from Saudi Arabia.
Bahrain is also expanding its Sitra refinery, boosting the 87-year-old crude processing plant's capacity to about 400,000 barrels a day from 267,000 a day now

Heavy fuel oil is a residual fuel incurred during the distillation of crude oil. It is used to generate motion and/or heat that have a particularly high viscosity and density. Heavy fuel oil is mainly used as a marine fuel. The quality of the residual fuel depends on the quality of the crude oil. Utilities - where mostly cracked HSFO is burned for power generation. Bunkering - where cracked and straight-run HSFO is blended for use as a fuel for scrubber-fitted ships. Sophisticated refineries - where HSFO (straight-run or cracked) is either blended with crude or used as a non-crude feedstock.
AMEC ENERGY CORP. Focuses mainly on supplying HSFO to the large thermoelectric plants in the region, giving way to the development and growth of electric power generating plants in both Central America and the Caribbean, thus providing a quality product that is part of the cycle of processes that are responsible for bringing light to many homes in the region.
